Guatemala’s president calls for the end of the ‘War on Drugs’

Guatemala PresidentIn a recent Central American Summit the president of Guatemala Otto Perez Molina has declared that the war on drugs has failed and that it’s time to end the taboo on discussing decriminalization.

The Guatemalan president was joined by senior officials from Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador and stated that “We have seen that the strategy that has been pursued in the fight against drug trafficking over the last 40 years has failed”.

“We have to look for new alternatives. We must end the myths, the taboos, and tell people you have to discuss it,” he added.

Central America is one of the biggest transit routes for South American cocaine heading north to the US and the ever growing power of drug gangs has created a lot of corruption and skyrocketed murder rates in the area with Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala being especially affected by it.

President Perez Molino is a former army general who was elected in November and in January he announced that it was time to consider the decriminalization of the consumption, production and trafficking of drugs.

Despite promising an “iron fist” approach to organized crime the President has said that the price Central America is paying for the war on drugs in human lives is just too high.

The Obama Administration Officially Considers Marijuana To Be Just As Dangerous As Heroin!

Obama Says Weed Dangerous as HeroinDespite an overwealming majority of American citizens wanting cannabis to be legalized and the endless scientific studies and research that continues to emerge proving the harmlessness of marijuana the Obama Administration’s official stance is that marijuana is just as dangerous as heroin and hence should not be legalized under any circumstance.

When will the insanity end?

Newt Grinich proposed death penalty for anyone caught with more than 2 ounces of pot in 1996

Newt Grinach Proposed Death Penalty for PotDespite having confessed to smoking cannabis in college and stating that when he was young experimenting with drugs “was a sign we were alive and in graduate school in that era” Newt Grinach proposed a bill that would putting anyone caught bringing more than two ounces of cannabis into the United States to death.

Whilst this might sound pretty extreme it’s 100% true and you can even see the 1996 bill proposed by Grinich right here.

So how does a man that has confessed to smoking pot in college explain such hypocricy?

Well here’s the kicker, his official statement was:

“See, when I smoked pot it was illegal, but not immoral,” Gingrich reportedly told Wall Street Journal reporter Hilary Stout in 1996. “Now, it is illegal AND immoral. The law didn’t change, only the morality… That’s why you get to go to jail and I don’t.”

Sorry, what!?
